Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing the rear panel. Sealed system work should be left to professionals.
- Check power supply: Confirm the wall socket works by testing with another appliance. Ensure the freezer plug is fully inserted and any switched outlet is on.
- Listen for compressor: After plugging in, listen at the back. If you hear only a brief click and then silence, the start relay/PTC may be faulty.
- Inspect start components: Remove the rear lower panel, then the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the start relay/PTC and overload for burn marks or loose fit.
- Replace start relay/PTC: If suspect, install a new compressor start relay/PTC matched to your Bush compressor model. Also replace the overload protector if damaged.
- Test operation: Refit covers, plug in, and allow several minutes. The compressor should start and the cabinet should begin to cool.
If the compressor still does not start or hums loudly then stops, the compressor itself or main control PCB may be faulty and requires professional diagnosis.
