Possible Causes
Mechanical thermostat contacts stuck closed (manual dial models), Shorted NTC temperature sensor, Control PCB not cycling compressor off
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the thermostat or control panel.
- Check control setting: Turn the temperature dial or digital setting to a warmer position and monitor for several hours. If no change, suspect a control fault.
- Mechanical thermostat models: Access the thermostat behind the control knob. Remove the knob and front cover, then test the thermostat for continuity. If it remains closed regardless of knob position, replace the mechanical thermostat.
- Electronic models: Test the cabinet NTC sensor (see E1). A shorted sensor can make the control think it is warm, running the compressor continuously. Replace the cabinet NTC temperature sensor if readings are too low or near 0 Ω.
If thermostat and sensors are correct but the compressor never cycles off, the main control PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
