Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Failed door switch, Misaligned door or hinges, Obstructed door gasket preventing full closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: You can troubleshoot this with power on, but avoid touching live terminals. Unplug the unit before removing any panels.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect shelves, bins, and food packages to ensure nothing is blocking the door from closing fully. Rearrange items so the door seals evenly on all sides.
- Inspect door gasket: Look for gaps, tears, or warped sections of the gasket. Close the door on a thin sheet of paper at several points; you should feel resistance when pulling it out. If the paper slides out easily, the gasket may need adjustment or replacement.
- Verify door alignment: Check that the door is level and not sagging. Tighten hinge screws if loose. If the door is significantly misaligned, hinge adjustment or replacement may be required.
- Test door switch: Locate the door switch (usually in the cabinet frame). Press it manually; the interior light should turn off and the alarm should stop. If not, unplug the freezer, remove the switch, and test it with a multimeter for continuity when pressed. Replace if defective.
- Clear the code: After correcting the issue, close the door firmly and wait a few minutes. The dE indication should clear automatically.
