Possible Causes
Incorrect temperature setting, Stuck or shorted thermistor, Main control board relay stuck on, Damaged or miscalibrated temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: You can adjust settings with power on; unplug the unit before accessing internal components.
- Verify setpoint: Check the control panel and ensure the freezer is not set to the coldest setting. Adjust to the recommended factory setting and wait 24 hours.
- Check for control lock or sabbath modes: Make sure no special modes are forcing continuous operation. Refer to the user manual for your Café model.
- Test thermistor: If the unit continues to overcool, unplug it, access the freezer thermistor, and measure its resistance at a known temperature. Replace if readings are out of specification or unstable.
- Observe compressor run time: If the compressor runs nearly constantly even when the interior is very cold, the main control board may have a stuck relay or logic fault. Board replacement is typically required.
