Possible Causes
Recent power outage, Loose power cord connection, Tripped breaker or GFCI, Intermittent power supply to outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not work on live wiring. If you suspect an electrical issue beyond the appliance, contact a qualified electrician.
- Acknowledge the code: On most Café freezers, pressing any control pad or the alarm reset button will clear the PF indication.
- Check power source: Verify the freezer is plugged directly into a properly grounded wall outlet (no extension cords). Ensure the circuit breaker is fully on and not tripping repeatedly.
- Inspect power cord: Pull the unit out slightly and inspect the power cord for cuts, kinks, or burn marks. Replace the cord if damaged.
- Monitor for recurrence: If PF appears frequently without known outages, plug a lamp or outlet tester into the same receptacle to check for flickering or intermittent power. Have an electrician correct any house wiring issues.
- Internal connections: If the outlet is stable but PF persists, a loose internal power connection or failing main control board could be at fault. This typically requires a technician to diagnose safely.
