Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked or misrouted defrost drain tube, Ice buildup in drain trough, Condensation due to door gasket leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing interior panels. Use towels to catch water and melted ice.
- Locate defrost drain: Remove the interior rear panel and find the drain trough beneath the evaporator coil. Check for ice or debris blocking the drain hole.
- Clear the drain: Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or squeeze bottle to flush the drain until water flows freely into the drain pan under the unit.
- Inspect drain tube: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Ensure it is not kinked, disconnected, or cracked. Replace if damaged.
- Check door gasket: A poor seal can cause excess frost and water. Inspect and replace the gasket if necessary.
