Possible Causes

Open-circuit evaporator NTC sensor, Shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main control board analog input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the freezer from mains power before accessing internal panels or wiring.

  • Locate the evaporator sensor: On Candy freezers, the evaporator NTC is usually clipped to the evaporator coil behind the internal rear panel of the freezer compartment.
  • Remove the inner panel: Empty the freezer, remove baskets and shelves, then unscrew and carefully pull off the rear liner panel to expose the evaporator and wiring.
  • Inspect the NTC and wiring: Look for broken insulation, corroded connectors, or ice buildup around the sensor. If the sensor is encased in ice, allow it to fully defrost and then retest.
  • Test the sensor resistance: Disconnect the NTC from the harness. Using a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature (around 20–25°C). Typical Candy NTCs are in the 4–10 kΩ range at room temperature (check service documentation if available). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a faulty sensor.
  • Check continuity of harness: With the freezer still unplugged, test continuity from the sensor connector back to the main control board connector to rule out broken wires.
  • Replace the NTC sensor: If readings are out of range, install a new Candy-compatible evaporator NTC sensor. Clip it securely back onto the evaporator in the original position and route the cable away from sharp edges.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel, baskets, and shelves. Plug the freezer back in and monitor if E02 clears after a few minutes of operation.

Warning: Do not pierce insulation or refrigerant lines when routing the new sensor. If the error persists after sensor replacement, the main control board may need professional diagnosis.
