Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer and allow the compressor to cool for at least 30 minutes before touching it.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate space around the Candy freezer (typically at least several centimeters at the sides and rear) and that air vents are not blocked.
- Clean condenser coils: Remove dust and lint from the condenser at the rear or base using a brush and vacuum.
- Inspect overload protector: The overload is usually clipped to the compressor terminal block. Remove the cover and check for signs of burning or deformation.
- Test overload continuity: With the freezer unplugged, disconnect the overload and measure continuity. An open overload that does not reset after cooling must be replaced.
- Monitor compressor operation: After cleaning and replacing a faulty overload, plug the freezer back in and listen for the compressor starting. If it hums and clicks off repeatedly, the compressor may be failing mechanically or electrically.
- Seek professional help for compressor issues: If the compressor is overheating or not starting even with a new overload, a sealed system technician is required.
Warning: Do not bypass the overload protector; it is a critical safety device. Persistent E09 indicates a serious fault that may require compressor replacement.
