Freezer shows E6; fan noise may stop or airflow inside cabinet is weak

Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the fan. Moving blades can cause injury.

Steps to fix E6:

• 1. Confirm fan operation: With the door switch held closed (if accessible) and power on, the fan should run when the compressor is running. If E6 is present and the fan is silent, proceed to checks after unplugging.
• 2. Access the evaporator fan: Remove drawers and the internal rear panel to expose the fan assembly.
• 3. Check for ice blockage: Look for ice build‑up around the fan shroud and blades. If present, fully defrost the area and ensure the blades spin freely by hand.
• 4. Inspect wiring: Check the fan motor connector and harness for loose plugs or damaged insulation.
• 5. Test the fan motor: Disconnect the fan and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. On DC fans, also check for correct supply voltage from the PCB when powered (only if you are competent and using proper safety precautions).
• 6. Replace the fan motor: Unscrew or unclip the fan assembly, transfer the fan blade if separate, and install the new motor. Reconnect wiring securely.
• 7. PCB diagnosis: If the fan tests good but does not receive power, the main control PCB fan driver may be defective and require replacement.

Tip: Persistent fan failures may be linked to chronic defrost issues causing repeated ice blockage; check for related defrost error codes.
