Possible Causes
Loose or damaged ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Faulty touch control/display PCB, Oxidised connectors at control board, Main control PCB communication failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel or top trim.
Steps to address E7:
- 1. Power cycle: Unplug the freezer for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E7 returns immediately, continue with hardware checks.
- 2. Access the display panel: On Caple freezers, the display is usually in the door or top fascia. Remove the trim screws or clips carefully to expose the display PCB and wiring.
- 3. Inspect connections: Check the ribbon cable or harness between the display PCB and the main control PCB. Reseat connectors and look for bent pins or corrosion.
- 4. Check for moisture ingress: Signs of condensation or water damage on the display PCB can cause intermittent E7. Dry the area thoroughly and consider sealing gaps if moisture is recurring.
- 5. Replace display PCB if faulty: If buttons or touch areas do not respond and E7 persists despite good connections, replace the user interface/display PCB.
- 6. Main PCB replacement: If a known‑good display PCB still shows E7, the main control PCB may have a communication fault and require replacement.
Note: Handle ribbon cables gently; damage to tracks can create new faults.
