Possible Causes
Cabinet not level causing door to swing, Warped or twisted door, Deformed door gasket, Items inside obstructing door closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Adjusting levelling feet can cause the appliance to move; have someone assist if needed.
Steps to improve door closure:
- 1. Check for obstructions: Ensure baskets and food packages are not protruding and hitting the door.
- 2. Level the freezer: Use a spirit level on top. Adjust front feet so the unit is slightly tilted backwards; this helps the door close and stay shut.
- 3. Inspect gasket: Look for twisted or compressed sections. Warm the gasket gently with a hairdryer and pull it into shape to improve contact.
- 4. Check hinges: Tighten hinge screws and ensure the door is not sagging. On some Caple models, hinge position can be adjusted slightly.
- 5. Replace gasket if necessary: If the seal is torn or hardened, fit a new Caple door gasket, pressing it fully into the door channel.
Note: A good seal is essential to prevent frost build‑up and high energy use.
