Possible Causes
Door left open too long, High temperature condition, Faulty door switch not detecting closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is needed for basic checks. Unplug the unit before testing switches with tools.
Steps to clear AL:
- Confirm door closure: Close the door firmly and ensure nothing is blocking it. Check that the gasket contacts the cabinet all around.
- Check door switch: Locate the door switch (usually at the top or side of the opening). Press it by hand; the interior light should turn off and the alarm may silence.
- Clean the switch area: Wipe away frost or debris that may prevent the switch from fully depressing.
- Test the switch (if needed): Unplug the freezer, remove the switch (often held by a clip or screw), and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing and releasing the button. Replace if it does not change state.
- Allow temperature to recover: If the door was left open, give the freezer several hours to cool back down. The alarm will usually clear automatically.
Note: If AL persists with a closed door and good temperature, the control board or sensor may be misreading and require professional diagnosis.
