Possible Causes
Loose copper tubing contacting cabinet, Worn compressor mounting grommets, Cabinet not level
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before bending any tubing or adjusting compressor mounts.
Steps to reduce knocking/banging:
- Level the unit: Use a level to ensure the freezer is stable on the floor. Adjust leveling feet so it does not rock.
- Access rear compartment: Remove the rear lower panel with the unit unplugged.
- Inspect refrigerant lines: Look for copper tubes that are touching each other or the cabinet. Gently bend them away using your hands; do not kink the tubing.
- Check compressor mounts: Verify that the compressor mounting bolts and rubber grommets are in place and not cracked. Replace grommets if hardened or broken.
- Secure loose parts: Tighten any loose brackets or panels that may vibrate during start/stop.
Note: Some clicking or popping noises from metal expansion are normal, but loud bangs should be addressed.
