Possible Causes
Frozen defrost drain tube, Debris blocking drain hole, Improper cabinet leveling causing water to pool
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or removing panels. Use towels to absorb water.
Steps to clear internal water/ice:
- Remove ice: Take out baskets and chip away loose ice carefully with a plastic scraper. Do not use sharp metal tools.
- Access drain hole: Remove the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator tray and drain hole at the bottom.
- Defrost the drain: Pour warm (not boiling) water into the drain hole using a turkey baster until the ice plug melts and water flows freely.
- Clean the tube: If accessible from the back, gently run a flexible plastic line or pipe cleaner through the drain tube to remove debris.
- Level the unit: Ensure the freezer is level so defrost water flows properly to the drain.
Note: Regularly check and clean the drain area to prevent recurring ice buildup.
