Possible Causes
Loose or damaged ribbon cable between UI and main board, Failed display PCB, Moisture or corrosion on keypad contacts, Faulty main control board UI driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing the control panel or display assembly.
Steps to address E7:
- Access the display panel: Remove screws or clips holding the front control panel. Carefully pull it forward to expose the ribbon cable or harness.
- Inspect connections: Ensure the ribbon cable is fully seated at both the display and main board ends. Look for kinks, cracks, or corrosion on the contacts.
- Dry any moisture: If there are signs of condensation or liquid spills, gently dry the area and clean contacts with electronic contact cleaner (power disconnected).
- Test keypad: With the panel removed, press buttons and feel for proper tactile response. A spongy or stuck button may indicate a failed keypad membrane.
- Replace UI board: If the cable is intact but E7 persists and buttons do not respond, replace the user interface / display board.
- Check main board: If a new UI does not resolve the issue, the main control board may have a communication fault and require replacement.
Tip: Handle ribbon cables by the stiffened ends only to avoid damaging the conductors.
