Possible Causes
Damaged or warped door gasket, Door not closing fully due to misalignment, Frequent door openings, Door hinge sagging
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid using sharp tools to remove frost; they can damage the liner or coils.
Steps to reduce frost buildup:
- Inspect gasket: Close the door on a thin piece of paper at several points around the perimeter. If the paper pulls out easily, the seal is weak in that area.
- Clean gasket: Wash the gasket with warm soapy water and dry. Remove any food residue or debris that may prevent sealing.
- Adjust door: Check that the cabinet is level and the door is aligned. Adjust leveling feet or hinge screws to ensure the door closes squarely.
- Replace gasket: If the gasket is cracked, torn, or permanently deformed, replace the door gasket with the correct Danby part. Warm the new gasket with a hair dryer on low to help it conform.
- Limit door openings: Minimize how often and how long the door is open, especially in humid environments.
Tip: After gasket replacement, it may take a day or two for the seal to fully conform and frost to reduce.
