Condenser Heat Dissipation / Overheating
Freezer exterior sides or top feel very hot to the touch.

Possible Causes
Normal operation with warm side walls (condenser in walls), Blocked ventilation around cabinet, Dirty condenser coils, Overworked compressor due to poor door seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep children from prolonged contact with hot surfaces.
Steps to address hot exterior:
- Check installation clearance: Ensure there is adequate space around the freezer per Danby specifications (typically several inches at sides, back, and top).
- Clean condenser: If your model has exposed coils, vacuum and brush them to improve heat dissipation.
- Inspect door gasket: A leaking door seal can cause the compressor to run constantly, heating the cabinet. Replace the door gasket if it does not seal properly.
- Monitor run time: Some warmth is normal, especially during hot weather or heavy use. If the sides are too hot to touch comfortably and the compressor runs nonstop, have a technician check for sealed system issues.
Note: Built-in condensers in the cabinet walls will always feel warm during operation; this is by design.
