Possible Causes
Overheated compressor due to poor ventilation, Faulty compressor thermal protector, Blocked condenser fan, Control board misreading temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor area.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the freezer (at least 5–10 cm at sides and back). Remove any items blocking the rear grille.
- Clean condenser and fan: Remove the rear lower panel and clean dust from the condenser coils and fan (if fitted) using a soft brush and vacuum.
- Check compressor temperature: After running for a while, the compressor will be warm but should not be too hot to touch briefly. If it is extremely hot, the thermal protector may be tripping.
- Inspect thermal protector: The protector is usually a small device clipped to the compressor body or integrated with the start device. Check for signs of overheating or damage and replace if suspect.
- Test operation: After cleaning and any part replacement, reassemble, restore power, and monitor. If AL14 recurs, a deeper sealed-system or control issue may exist.
