Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Weak compressor, Partial refrigerant leak, Evaporator fan not circulating air properly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before cleaning coils or accessing fans.
- Check door seal: Inspect the gasket for gaps or tears. Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it pulls out easily, the seal may be weak.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower panel and clean dust from the condenser coils and fan using a brush and vacuum. Ensure good airflow around the appliance.
- Verify evaporator fan: With the unit running, listen for the internal fan. If silent, follow the steps for fan inspection and replacement.
- Check frost pattern: After running for 30–60 minutes, remove the internal rear panel (with power off) and inspect the evaporator. A uniform light frost is normal; heavy ice on only part of the coil or no frost at all suggests a sealed-system issue.
If cleaning and fan checks do not restore performance, a technician should evaluate the compressor and refrigerant charge.
