Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain hole, Drain tube frozen, Door gasket leaking warm moist air, Cabinet not level causing water to pool
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer and remove food to a cool place while working.
- Defrost ice: Remove all ice from the floor of the freezer using plastic tools. Do not chip with metal objects.
- Clear drain hole: Locate the drain hole at the back or bottom of the compartment. Flush with warm (not boiling) water using a turkey baster or syringe until water flows freely to the rear tray.
- Check drain tube: From the rear, ensure the drain tube is not kinked or blocked. Gently clear any obstruction.
- Inspect door seal: Replace a damaged gasket to prevent warm air ingress, which increases frost and meltwater.
- Re-level appliance: Make sure the freezer is slightly tilted back so the door closes easily and water flows to the drain.
