Possible Causes
Failed ambient NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from proper location, Damaged sensor harness in control housing, Faulty main control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control housing.
- 1. Locate ambient sensor: On many Electrolux freezers, the ambient sensor is in the control panel area or behind the front grille, sensing room temperature.
- 2. Inspect sensor and mounting: Ensure the sensor is not touching hot components and is not covered by insulation or debris.
- 3. Test resistance: With the freezer unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the NTC chart in the service manual. Replace if open, shorted, or out of spec.
- 4. Check harness: Inspect and test continuity from the sensor to the main control board. Repair any breaks or corrosion.
- 5. Replace control board if needed: If the sensor and wiring are good but E5 persists, replace the main control board.
