Possible Causes
Defective magnetic door switch or reed sensor, Misaligned door or weak door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty input on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before testing or replacing the door switch.
- 1. Locate the door switch: On Electrolux freezers, the door switch is usually in the door frame or integrated into the liner near the top.
- 2. Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket makes uniform contact. Adjust hinges if the door is sagging.
- 3. Test the switch: Remove the switch or access its connector. With a multimeter, test continuity while pressing and releasing the switch (or moving the magnet near a reed sensor). Replace if it does not change state reliably.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Check for broken or pinched wires between the switch and control board.
- 5. Replace control board if needed: If the switch and wiring are good but E9 persists, the control board input may be defective and require replacement.
