Possible Causes
Failed microcontroller on main PCB, Power surge damage to control board, Corrupted firmware, Shorted component on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the control board.
- 1. Power cycle: Unplug the unit for at least 10 minutes to fully discharge the board, then plug back in. If EB clears and does not return, monitor operation.
- 2. Inspect control board: Remove the control housing (top or rear) and visually inspect the PCB for burn marks, bulged capacitors, or damaged components.
- 3. Check for proper grounding: Ensure the ground wire is securely attached to the cabinet and control board mounting points.
- 4. Surge protection: If EB occurred after a storm or power event, consider installing a surge protector to prevent recurrence.
- 5. Replace main control board: If EB persists and no external wiring faults are found, replace the main control board with the correct Electrolux part number.
