Freezer not cooling at all; interior is warm, compressor not running, lights may still work.

Safety first: Unplug the freezer. The compressor terminals carry mains voltage. Do not touch bare terminals when powered.

• 1. Verify power: Confirm the outlet has power by plugging in another appliance. Check the freezer's power cord and plug for damage.
• 2. Listen for compressor: After plugging in, listen for a low hum or clicking from the compressor area. Re-unplug before proceeding.
• 3. Access compressor components: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the compressor, start relay/PTC, and overload protector.
• 4. Inspect and test start relay/overload: Remove the relay and overload from the compressor. Shake the relay gently; if it rattles or smells burnt, replace it. Test continuity of the overload; replace if open.
• 5. Check compressor windings: With the unit unplugged, test resistance between compressor terminals and to ground. If windings are open or shorted to ground, the compressor is faulty and requires professional replacement.
• 6. Check control board output: If start components and compressor test good, the main control board may not be sending power. With proper precautions and reference to the wiring diagram, test for voltage at the compressor when it should be running. Replace the main control board if no output is present.
