Possible Causes

Freezer operated too soon after being laid on its side, Compressor oil in suction line, Tripped overload due to liquid slugging

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not repeatedly plug and unplug the freezer trying to force it to start; this can damage the compressor.

  • 1. Rest period: If the freezer was transported on its side or at an angle, leave it unplugged and upright for at least 4–24 hours (check Electrolux recommendations) to allow oil to drain back into the compressor.
  • 2. Try starting once: After the rest period, plug in the freezer and allow it to run. Listen for normal compressor start.
  • 3. Check overload and start device: If it still will not start, inspect the compressor start relay and overload protector and replace if necessary.
  • 4. Professional service: If the compressor hums and clicks off repeatedly, a technician should evaluate for internal compressor damage.
