Possible Causes
Failed membrane keypad, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and display board, Liquid ingress into control panel, Damaged user interface PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before opening the control panel.
Steps to resolve E12:
- 1. Check for stuck buttons: Press each button individually. If any feel stuck or do not click, the keypad may be damaged.
- 2. Remove control fascia: Unscrew and gently pry off the control fascia to access the keypad and display board.
- 3. Inspect ribbon cable: Ensure the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the display/UI board is fully inserted and not damaged. Reseat it carefully.
- 4. Look for moisture: Signs of condensation or spills inside the control area can cause keypad faults. Dry the area thoroughly and consider using a hairdryer on a cool setting (with power disconnected).
- 5. Replace keypad or UI board: If the keypad membrane is cracked or unresponsive, replace the keypad / control fascia assembly. If the keypad appears fine but E12 persists, the user interface PCB may need replacement.
Note: Avoid using excessive water or cleaners near the control panel in the future to prevent recurrence.
