High Cabinet Surface Temperature
Exterior sides of the freezer feel very hot to the touch.

Possible Causes
Condenser coils embedded in cabinet working hard, Poor ventilation around freezer, Dirty condenser (for coil-on-back models), High ambient temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Surfaces may be hot but should not be scalding. If you smell burning, unplug immediately.
Steps to reduce exterior heat:
- 1. Improve ventilation: Ensure at least the manufacturer-recommended clearance around the sides, back, and top of the freezer.
- 2. Clean condenser: For models with exposed coils, vacuum dust and lint thoroughly.
- 3. Check ambient temperature: Avoid placing the freezer in very hot rooms or near heat sources.
- 4. Monitor operation: If the cabinet remains excessively hot and the compressor runs constantly, have a technician check for sealed-system issues.
Note: Warm sides are normal on many Essentials freezers, especially shortly after startup or during heavy use.
