Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole under evaporator, Frozen drain tube, Food debris or insulation blocking drain, Misaligned drain trough
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer and remove food from the bottom area.
Steps to clear ice on floor:
- 1. Remove interior bottom panel: If fitted, take out the bottom cover to expose the ice layer.
- 2. Melt the ice: Use warm (not boiling) water and towels to melt and soak up the ice. Do not use sharp tools that can puncture the liner.
- 3. Access drain hole: Remove the rear interior panel to reach the drain hole beneath the evaporator. Flush with warm water using a turkey baster or squeeze bottle until water flows freely to the drip tray.
- 4. Check external drain tube: From the rear, ensure the drain tube is not blocked or frozen. Clear gently if needed.
- 5. Reassemble and monitor: Refit panels, restore power, and check over the next week that ice does not reform.
Note: Repeated blockages may indicate a damaged drain trough that should be replaced.
