Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator, Corroded sensor connector, Damaged wiring harness to control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the evaporator compartment or control board.

  • Access the evaporator: Remove drawers and the rear inner panel of the freezer compartment to expose the evaporator coil. Be careful not to damage the foam insulation.
  • Locate the sensor: The Fagor evaporator sensor is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or embedded near the coil. Check that it is firmly attached and not hanging loose.
  • Inspect for ice damage: Heavy ice buildup can pull the sensor away or damage its wires. Carefully defrost the area using a hair dryer on low setting, keeping it away from plastic parts and never using sharp tools.
  • Check wiring and connector: Follow the sensor wires to the connector and inspect for corrosion or broken insulation. Reseat the connector at the control board.
  • Test and replace: If you have a multimeter, test the sensor resistance as per service documentation (typically a few kΩ at freezer temperatures). Replace the Fagor evaporator NTC sensor if readings are out of range or intermittent.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the inner panel, restore power, and monitor operation. If AL03 persists with a new sensor, the control board may require replacement by a technician.
