Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay, Open thermal overload protector, Locked compressor, Faulty main control board output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer. Work only if you are comfortable around mains voltage components. If unsure, contact a professional.
- Listen for compressor attempts: When powered, you may hear a click from the compressor area followed by another click after a few seconds. Repeated clicking suggests a start relay or compressor issue.
- Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower service panel to expose the compressor, start relay, and overload protector.
- Inspect start device: Remove the Fagor compressor start relay/overload assembly from the compressor terminals. Check for burnt smell, rattling pieces, or discoloration.
- Test continuity: Use a multimeter to check the overload protector and relay according to their specifications. Replace the start relay/overload kit if defective.
- Check compressor windings: Measure resistance between the three compressor pins. Open or shorted windings indicate a failed compressor, which requires professional replacement and refrigerant handling.
- Control board output: If the start device and compressor test good but AL06 persists and no voltage is sent to the compressor, the main control board may be faulty and should be replaced by a technician.
