Possible Causes
Defective magnetic door switch, Misaligned door or hinge, Broken wiring to door switch, Faulty input circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing trims or accessing the door switch wiring.
- Check door closure: Ensure the Fagor freezer door closes fully and is not obstructed by baskets or food. Adjust shelves if necessary.
- Inspect gasket and hinges: Look for twisted or damaged door gasket and sagging hinges that prevent proper closure. Adjust or replace hinges if the door is misaligned.
- Locate door switch: Depending on the model, the door switch may be a plunger switch in the frame or a magnetic reed sensor hidden in the cabinet. Inspect for physical damage.
- Test switch: With the freezer unplugged, remove the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing it. Replace the Fagor door switch if it does not change state reliably.
- Magnetic sensor check: For magnetic systems, ensure the door magnet is present and aligned with the sensor area. Replace missing magnets or sensor assemblies.
- Control board: If the switch tests good but AL09 persists, the control board input may be faulty and require replacement.
