Possible Causes
Open defrost thermostat, Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Loose connector at control board, Broken wiring in defrost sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer and allow ice to melt before working near the evaporator.
- Manual defrost: Open the door and let the unit stand off for several hours or use a hair dryer on low to remove heavy frost.
- Access defrost components: Remove the inner rear panel to expose the evaporator, defrost heater, and defrost thermostat/sensor.
- Check thermostat: If your Fagor model uses a mechanical defrost thermostat, test it for continuity when cold. Replace if open.
- Check NTC sensor: For electronic sensors, measure resistance at known temperatures. Replace the Fagor defrost/evaporator NTC sensor if readings are abnormal.
- Reconnect and secure: Ensure all connectors are firmly seated and wires are routed away from sharp metal edges.
- Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and monitor for normal defrost operation and absence of E2.
