Possible Causes
Open defrost heater, Failed defrost thermostat, Faulty defrost control on main board, Blocked defrost drain causing refreezing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer and prepare towels for water from melting ice.
- Manual defrost: Leave the door open and allow all ice to melt. Use containers of hot water inside to speed up the process; never use sharp tools.
- Clear drain: Locate the defrost drain hole under the evaporator and clear it with warm water and a flexible plastic probe.
- Test heater and thermostat: After defrosting, access the Fagor defrost heater and thermostat and test continuity. Replace any open components.
- Control board: If heater and thermostat are good, the defrost control function in the main board may be faulty and require replacement.
