Possible Causes
High temperature event, Door left open alarm, Power loss alarm memory, Faulty door switch, Defective control board alarm circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Do not bypass safety devices. Disconnect power before testing switches or boards.
AL is a general alarm; the cause must be identified by checking conditions and any accompanying icons.
- Step 1 – Silence alarm: Press the alarm reset or setpoint button as indicated in the user manual to silence the beeper.
- Step 2 – Check door switch: Open and close the door while watching the interior light. If the light does not respond, test and replace the door switch.
- Step 3 – Verify temperature: Use a thermometer to confirm actual freezer temperature. If warm, troubleshoot cooling (fans, compressor, defrost system).
- Step 4 – Power loss memory: Some models store a power loss alarm. Clear it by pressing and holding the alarm reset for several seconds.
- Step 5 – Control board: If alarms occur with normal temperature and a good door switch, the control board alarm circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
