Possible Causes
Freezer set too cold, Failed thermistor reading too low, Control board miscalibration, Stuck relay keeping compressor on
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Use caution when handling extremely cold surfaces; wear gloves. Disconnect power before accessing components.
Lo often indicates the sensed temperature is below the displayable range.
- Step 1 – Check setpoint: Verify the temperature setting is not at the coldest extreme. Adjust to a mid-range setting and monitor.
- Step 2 – Confirm actual temperature: Place an accurate thermometer in the freezer. If the actual temperature is normal but display shows Lo, suspect a sensor or control issue.
- Step 3 – Test freezer thermistor: Access and measure the thermistor resistance. Compare to the temperature/resistance chart. Replace if out of range.
- Step 4 – Inspect control board: If thermistor is good, the control board may be misreading the sensor. Replace the board if the issue persists.
