• Step 1 – Adjust setpoint: Raise the temperature setting slightly and monitor for 24 hours. If no change, continue.
• Step 2 – Mechanical thermostat models: Test the thermostat for continuity. If it remains closed (continuity) even at warm settings, replace the thermostat.
• Step 3 – Electronic models: Test the freezer thermistor resistance and compare to spec. Replace if reading is too low for the actual temperature.
• Step 4 – Control board: If sensor and thermostat are good but the compressor runs excessively, the control board may be faulty and should be replaced.
