Possible Causes
Partially clogged defrost drain, Poor insulation around drain tube, Heater not warming drain area sufficiently, Cabinet tilt causing water to pool
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the freezer before defrosting ice or accessing the drain.
- Step 1 – Remove ice: Take out baskets and chip away loose ice with a plastic scraper. Do not use sharp tools that can puncture the liner.
- Step 2 – Clear drain: Pour warm water into the drain trough at the back until it flows freely. Use a turkey baster to force warm water through the drain tube.
- Step 3 – Check cabinet level: Ensure the freezer is slightly tilted back so water flows to the drain.
- Step 4 – Inspect drain heater (if equipped): Some models have a small heater or heat probe near the drain. Verify it is in place and not damaged.
