Possible Causes
Faulty door switch, Misaligned door or hinges, Damaged or warped door gasket, Broken or loose door switch wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing any interior panels or working with wiring.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no food packages or shelves are preventing a tight seal.
- Inspect the gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections of the door gasket. Clean it with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly to improve sealing.
- Test the door switch: Locate the door switch (usually near the top or side of the opening). Press it in by hand; the interior light should turn off and the alarm should stop. If nothing changes, the switch may be defective.
- Check switch wiring: With the unit unplugged, gently pull the switch out and inspect the connectors. Reseat any loose wires.
- Replace the door switch if needed: If the switch does not click or fails continuity testing with a multimeter, replace it with a GE-compatible door switch.
