Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Weak door gasket allowing warm air in, Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Failing compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before cleaning coils or moving the unit.
- Check temperature setting: Ensure the setpoint is appropriate (around 0°F / -18°C).
- Clean condenser coils: Pull the freezer away from the wall. Vacuum and brush dust from the rear or bottom condenser coils and grille.
- Inspect door gasket: Close a sheet of paper in the door and pull it out. If it slides easily all around, the gasket may not be sealing. Clean the gasket and door frame; replace the gasket if torn or warped.
- Check for frost pattern (advanced): Remove the interior rear panel and inspect the evaporator coil. A partial frost pattern (only a small section frosted) can indicate a sealed system issue requiring a professional.
- Verify room conditions: Extremely hot ambient temperatures or placing the freezer in an unconditioned space can reduce performance.
