Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Failed condenser fan motor, Open fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the freezer before working near moving fan blades or electrical connectors.

  • Step 1 – Listen for fans: With the unit powered (before unplugging), listen for the evaporator fan inside and the condenser fan near the compressor. If silent, proceed.
  • Step 2 – Access evaporator fan: Remove interior shelves and the rear panel to expose the evaporator fan. Check for ice blocking the blades. Clear ice with warm water or a hair dryer on low.
  • Step 3 – Test fan motor: With power disconnected, spin the fan blade by hand; it should move freely. Measure motor resistance; an open circuit indicates a bad motor. Replace the faulty fan motor.
  • Step 4 – Inspect condenser fan: Remove the rear access panel and check the condenser fan for obstructions and free movement. Replace if seized or electrically open.
  • Step 5 – Check wiring and control: If both fans test good, inspect wiring and consider a failed electronic control board fan driver.
