Possible Causes
Defective temperature control thermostat (mechanical models), Failed electronic temperature control circuit, Shorted temperature sensor, Miswired replacement control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the freezer before removing the control housing or thermostat. Use insulated tools.
- Step 1 – Identify control type: Determine if your Gladiator freezer uses a mechanical thermostat knob or an electronic control panel.
- Step 2 – Mechanical thermostat test: Bypass test (advanced): With power disconnected, remove the cold control thermostat and temporarily join the two main thermostat wires with an insulated jumper. Restore power briefly; if the compressor now runs normally, the thermostat is faulty and should be replaced. Remove jumper after test.
- Step 3 – Electronic control: For electronic models, verify sensor connections and inspect the control board for damage. If F1 persists, replace the electronic control board.
