Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked drain tube, Excessive frost melt from door left open, Condensation pan misaligned
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the freezer before removing panels. Use towels to absorb water and prevent slipping.
- Step 1 – Identify source: Check inside the freezer for ice buildup on the floor or under baskets. Look under the unit for a full or overflowing drain pan.
- Step 2 – Clear defrost drain: Remove the interior rear panel to access the defrost drain below the evaporator. Use warm water and a turkey baster to flush the drain until water flows freely into the pan below.
- Step 3 – Inspect drain tube and pan: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Ensure it is not cracked, disconnected, or frozen. Re-seat or replace as needed.
- Step 4 – Prevent recurrence: Ensure the door closes fully to minimize frost and defrost water volume.
