Possible Causes

Defective freezer NTC temperature sensor, Broken or shorted sensor wiring harness, Poor contact at sensor connector on main control PCB, Sensor dislodged from its mounting point inside liner

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing internal components.

Diagnosis steps:

  • Locate the freezer NTC sensor: On Grundig freezers it is typically clipped behind an interior wall cover or in a small plastic housing on the rear or side wall of the freezer compartment.
  • Visual inspection: Check that the sensor is firmly clipped in place and that its cable is not pinched, cut, or frozen into ice.
  • Check connector: Trace the sensor cable to the connector (often behind the interior panel or at the top/back of the cabinet). Ensure the connector is fully seated on the main PCB.
  • Measure resistance: With the freezer unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance with a multimeter. At around 25°C, most Grundig NTC sensors read roughly 4–10 kΩ (exact value depends on model). If it reads open circuit (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty.
  • Replace sensor: If readings are out of spec, replace the freezer NTC sensor with the correct Grundig part. Route the new sensor cable along the original path and secure it away from moving parts or sharp edges.
  • Reset power: Reconnect power and clear the error by unplugging for a few minutes. Monitor temperature and operation.
