Possible Causes
Corrupted EEPROM on main PCB, Incorrect sensor calibration data, Power surge affecting control memory, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing electronics.
Steps:
- Power reset: Unplug the freezer for at least 10 minutes to allow the control to fully power down, then reconnect.
- Factory reset (if available): Some Grundig models allow a factory reset via button combinations (refer to user manual). Perform this to reload default calibration.
- Check sensors first: Verify that all temperature sensors (freezer, evaporator, ambient) are functioning and within expected resistance ranges. A bad sensor can trigger calibration errors.
- Replace main PCB: If E11 persists and sensors are good, the EEPROM or microcontroller on the main PCB is likely faulty. Replace the main control PCB with the correct Grundig part.
