Possible Causes

Defective ambient NTC sensor, Sensor cable damaged near cabinet top or rear, Loose connector on control PCB, Sensor displaced from its mounting location

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing any external trims or panels.

Steps:

  • Locate ambient sensor: On Grundig freezers this sensor is often located near the top front or rear of the cabinet, behind a small plastic cover or integrated into the control housing.
  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for damage to the sensor body or cable, especially where it passes through cabinet holes.
  • Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to the expected NTC curve (commonly 4–10 kΩ at 25°C). Replace if open, shorted, or clearly out of range.
  • Reconnect or replace: If the sensor is loose, re-secure it in its holder. If faulty, install a new Grundig ambient NTC sensor and route the cable as originally installed.
  • Power on and monitor: Restore power and check that E7 clears and that the freezer cycles normally.
