How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before removing the control panel.
Procedure:
- Remove display panel: Carefully unclip or unscrew the front display/control panel.
- Check ribbon cable: Inspect the ribbon or harness connecting the display to the main PCB. Ensure it is fully inserted and not kinked or damaged.
- Clean connectors: Use contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab to gently clean connector pins if they appear tarnished.
- Inspect display PCB: Look for cracked solder joints, especially at the connector and buttons. If you see obvious damage, replacement is recommended.
- Test with new UI board: If wiring is intact and E8 persists, replace the display/user interface PCB with the correct Grundig part.
