Possible Causes

Faulty display PCB, Damaged communication cable between display and main PCB, Oxidized connectors, Power supply instability from main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before removing the control panel.

Procedure:

  • Remove display panel: Carefully unclip or unscrew the front display/control panel.
  • Check ribbon cable: Inspect the ribbon or harness connecting the display to the main PCB. Ensure it is fully inserted and not kinked or damaged.
  • Clean connectors: Use contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab to gently clean connector pins if they appear tarnished.
  • Inspect display PCB: Look for cracked solder joints, especially at the connector and buttons. If you see obvious damage, replacement is recommended.
  • Test with new UI board: If wiring is intact and E8 persists, replace the display/user interface PCB with the correct Grundig part.
