Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole behind rear panel, Frozen drain tube, Debris or food particles blocking drain channel, Drain heater (if fitted) not working
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer and be prepared for water from melting ice.
Steps:
- Empty and defrost: Remove food and drawers. Allow ice on the rear panel to melt or use warm (not boiling) water to speed up defrosting.
- Access drain: Remove the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator and drain trough.
- Clear drain hole: Use a soft pipe cleaner or flexible plastic rod to gently clear the drain hole. Flush with warm water using a turkey baster or syringe until water flows freely to the drain pan above the compressor.
- Check external drain tube: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drip tray. Ensure it is not kinked or blocked.
- Reassemble: Refit panels and restore power. Monitor for further leaks.
