Possible Causes

Open-circuit cabinet NTC sensor, Shorted cabinet NTC sensor, Damaged sensor harness, Faulty main control PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer from the wall outlet before removing any panels or handling wiring. Use insulated tools and avoid working on a wet floor.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then plug back in to see if the E0 code clears. If it returns, continue.
  • Locate the cabinet sensor: On most Haier freezers, the cabinet (air) NTC sensor is clipped to the evaporator cover or mounted on the liner wall behind a small plastic cover inside the freezer compartment.
  • Inspect wiring: Remove the inner cover (usually a few Phillips screws). Check the sensor wires and connector for corrosion, broken insulation, or loose plugs going to the main control PCB (often located in a rear lower compartment).
  • Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the harness. Measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical Haier NTC at room temperature is in the 5–20 kΩ range. An infinite reading indicates an open sensor; near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor.
  • Replace if defective: If readings are out of spec, replace the cabinet NTC sensor with a Haier-compatible temperature sensor. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it with clips or tape to avoid contact with moving parts or sharp edges.
  • Check the control board: If the sensor tests good but E0 persists, inspect the main control PCB for burnt components or corroded connectors. Reseat all plugs firmly. If damage is visible or the code will not clear, the control board may need replacement.
