Possible Causes

Defective freezer compartment NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from mounting point, Broken or pinched sensor wiring, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer. Avoid using metal tools that can puncture the liner or refrigerant lines.

  • Find the sensor: The freezer compartment sensor is usually behind a small plastic cover on the interior wall or integrated into the liner near the air return.
  • Remove cover: Gently pry off the cover or remove screws. Pull the sensor out slightly to access the connector.
  • Visual inspection: Check for moisture intrusion, corrosion on the connector, or signs the sensor has fallen out of its holder.
  • Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Haier NTC specs. Replace if open, shorted, or significantly off-spec.
  • Reinstall correctly: Ensure the new or existing sensor is fully seated in its holder and not touching the evaporator directly unless designed to do so.
  • Check harness to PCB: Trace the cable to the control board area. Repair any damaged insulation and ensure the plug is fully seated on the board.
