Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Failed touch control panel, Oxidized or corroded connectors, Faulty main control PCB communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the control panel or main board. Static discharge can damage electronics—ground yourself before touching PCBs.
- Access control panel: Remove the front control panel bezel or top trim (depending on model) to expose the display PCB and keypad.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Ensure the flat cable between the display and main control board is fully inserted and not kinked or torn. Reseat both ends.
- Clean connectors: Use electronic contact cleaner on the ribbon connectors and board sockets. Allow to dry completely before reassembly.
- Check for moisture: Look for condensation or water ingress around the panel. Dry thoroughly and improve door gasket seal if moisture is present.
- Panel vs. board: If E5 persists, disconnect the keypad/display and inspect for burnt components or cracked solder joints. Replace the touch control panel if physical damage is found. If the panel is good, the main control PCB may need replacement.
